Welcome Miguel Gamboa! Miguel is in his first season with the boys Blaze volleyball team. Our JV program is lucky to have him. Originally from Venezuela, he lived in Chile for four years before moving to Minnesota. Gamboa began his volleyball career in Chile, where he played two seasons at the international club level.
Gamboa, a Burnsville alum who graduated in 2024, joined the program as a player in 2023. He played for two seasons. Gamboa is a two time South Suburban Conference All-Conference nominee. He served as a captain for the blaze and he is one of the best players to come through the Blaze program. He also played one season with Minnesota Select Volleyball Club, where he competed in tournaments across the country, including Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
Gamboal is a student at Normandale Community College, where he is completing the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum with the goal of continuing his education in business at a four year university. Gamboa is a coach at Northern Lights Volleyball Club program. This year, he served as the head coach for the 16 Regional Black team.
Outside of coaching, Miguel enjoys staying active by playing in adult volleyball leagues, especially during the summer, which is his favorite time of the year. He enjoys playing grass volleyball and beach volleyball, spending time at the lake, participating in outdoor activities, and sharing moments with friends and family. He also enjoys watching TikTok in his free time.
Gamboa’s coaching philosophy is centered on effort, discipline, and a competitive mindset. He emphasizes doing the small things right every day, trusting the process, and developing players who can perform under pressure. At the same time, he believes athletes should be seen as more than just players, focusing on their growth as individuals, their character, and their development beyond the game.
