Makena Weierke is entering her 4th season with the Blaze.  Weierke graduated from Jordan High School and played volleyball there all through middle and high school. During the winter Makena played traveling basketball and her spring season was spent running track & field where she pole vaulted to set the school record. 

After high school, Coach Makena went on to play collegiate volleyball at a private school in downtown Chicago. She competed as a Libero for her first two years and setter for her Junior and Senior Year. Coach Weierke has been coaching volleyball for the past seven years at a variety of different levels in three different states. 

When not playing or coaching volleyball, she loves to travel with her Husband, spoil their rescue puppy, and spend time with family and friends at the lake cabin. Makena lives and breathes the world of sport as she works for Under Armour Corporate marketing. 

Weierke also coaches club volleyball at Midwest United Volleyball Club and Track & Field as Pole Vault coach in Jordan. 

Coach Makena is passionate about the involvement and values that can be found in the sport of volleyball and watching a team work together to achieve a common goal.
