Isaac Nieves

Welcome to the blaze coaching staff, Isaac Nieves. Nieves began his volleyball career at Rosemount High School, where he played setter for the Irish Boys Volleyball program. During his senior season, he finished 5th in the state in assists. Nieves also played club volleyball for Minnesota Select.

Nieves began his high school coaching career with the Rosemount Boys Volleyball program, serving as the B-Squad Head Coach. In addition to his high school coaching experience, Nieves coaches with Mizuno Northern Lights Junior Volleyball as an assistant coach for the Boys 18-2 team. He has also been a part of North Country Region USA Volleyball’s Regional Training Development Program (RTDP), gaining additional experience within USA Volleyball’s athlete-development system.

Alongside coaching, Nieves continues to play competitively, and this experience allows him to bring a current playing perspective into the gym while continuing to grow in his coaching career.

Nieves strives to create a competitive and team-centered environment while developing his player's knowledge of the whole game. He places a strong emphasis on volleyball IQ, communication, and adaptability; believing athletes should understand not only what they are doing, but why they are doing it. Coach Nieves aims to develop athletes on his team who can think independently and confidently, while playing for one another. Above all, he wants his athletes to leave the gym as better volleyball players and better teammates, and with a greater understanding and appreciation for the game.
